CAN YOUR ERP DO DELIVERY MANAGEMENT?
SAP B1 Delivery Management:
Welcome to one more series can your ERP do this?
In this series, we will be looking at Delivery Management. In SAP Business One the Delivery Management functionality is well automated. Whenever there is a sales order booked in SAP Business One, system automatically intimates people in delivery or warehouse about all key information like what needs to be delivered, to whom it needs to be delivered and the date of delivery and so on. There is no need of a manual mailing or phone calls to intimate the warehousing or the delivery team what needs to be delivered. This is completely automated in SAP Business One. On top of it, Delivery Management in SAP Business One has consolidating capabilities which system can make delivery reports based on consolidation by customers, by delivery date, by items or by due dates.
SAP Business One consolidates the delivery report based on which the delivery team can manage the delivery in a smart way. Taking the delivery feature to an entirely new dimension, SAP Business One also has the functionality of optimizing deliveries. If there are multiple deliveries available for the same customer on different dates, SAP Business One can throw a report saying that various deliveries across multiple delivery dates can be clubbed together to reduce the transportation cost or the multiple deliveries for a group of customer who lie on the same route can be consolidated so that the delivery cost can be really brought down.
For example, Consider 3 customers, say, customer A, B and C who are on the same route. while creating the customer, we just have to choose the region or the route in which the customer lies and from thereon whenever there is a delivery due for those customers, SAP Business One can basically club the deliveries by route, by delivery date and produces a report for outbound logistics to plan in such a manner that deliveries bound to customers lying on the same route can be done in single shot transportation rather than arranging separate transportation for the customers which increases the delivery cost. Hope you like these features in SAP Business One for Delivery Management.
