BIN LOCATION AND BIN MANAGEMENT

CAN YOUR ERP DO BIN LOCATION AND BIN MANAGEMENT?

Welcome to one more series of can your ERP do this?

Can your ERP do bin location and bin management? Every warehouse has rack, shelves, floor spaces and bins. These are designated places to store the stock. SAP Business One has this wonderful feature called bin management, where all these locations and the respective material stored can be clearly mapped and managed. Bin location in SAP Business One helps the user to identify bins where a particular stock is stored and SAP remembers it, so that the traceability and retrieveability of the material whenever required to issue or deliver or to do a physical count becomes less time consuming.

ERP does location and management

configuration:

The bins can be managed in 2 ways namely designated bin location and the vacant bin location. The designated bin location is pre-determined for a certain stock. Whenever a stock comes in, SAP make sure that those stocks go in those designated bin locations. In the case of vacant bin location, as and when the material arrives depending upon the vacant bin location and its position, the material is put in those bin locations. SAP also has 2 bin management system which is used in most of the FMCG’s and automotive industries. The re-order level is not by the quantity, it is by the extortion and replenishment of bin. When one bin is exhausted, SAP Business One has the capability based on the minimum re-order level, which is set by the bin quantity or the MRP program can re-order the bin. It also has the 2 bin mechanism built into it. Apart from that there are also bin restrictions in-case if the material has to be reserved or to be used in production can also be done.
